Youth Assistance Program

The Youth Assistance Program (Y.A.P.) is a diversion program that has been put in place by the Wayne County Juvenile System to give youth a second chance. These youth have made some decisions in their lives that have led them out of the classroom and into the courtroom. Instead of incarceration, they are offered the opportunity to attend a ninety day program. This program offers instruction in anger management, conflict resolution, sex education, substance abuse education, life skills, tutoring, individual and group counseling, random drug screening and recreation. Completing this program will allow all negative charges to be erased from a youth’s record. All services provided to the Youth Assistance Program are held at Alkebu-lan Village. We are an Afrikan Centered based organization that services a diverse population of youth in Detroit, Grosse Pointe, Hamtramck and Harper Woods.
